Sawyer’s Whiskey Bandits Bar to reopen with new liquor license
Cynthia Ellis, the previous owner, recently pled guilty to permitting minors in a liquor establishment. According to the Sheriff's Department, the incident happened in March, when they found 17 minors there — 15 of them drinking.
Progress continues in Minot water main replacement project
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Water main projects in the City of Minot are making progress but still have a lot of ground to cover. Veronica Meyer, senior project manager for the city, said the current cast iron water main pipes have aged and collected so much coating that some of them have gone from being a six-inch drain to two inches.

Meet the candidates running for Minot Park Board
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Three candidates are running for two open spots in the Minot Park Board election. One of the candidates is Cliff Hovda. He said he comes with a lot of experience being on the Minot Park board for 4 terms, for a total of 16 years. He said during the board’s last five-year plan, they have accomplished more than 80 percent of their goals. He said he’s decided to run once more because it’s satisfying to be on a board that helps the public through multiple recreational venues.

May is National Historic Preservation Month, and today we hear about another historic structure involved with North Dakota’s transportation infrastructure. In 1919, the Scobey Oil Company, owned by R. J. (Dick) Coughlin, consolidated with the Gray-Lindemann company to become the Westland Oil Company. This Montana business soon expanded into North Dakota, especially in the North-Northwest. In 1927, the company decided to move its headquarters from Scobey, Montana, to Minot. In March of 1928, Minot welcomed the new industry, along with the 44 new people who relocated to the city.
