Cops arrest rifle-toting, camouflage-clad man seen walking around N.J. neighborhood
A camouflage-wearing man seen walking around a Clifton neighborhood Wednesday afternoon with a rifle strapped to his body was arrested shortly thereafter, police said. Officers found the man in the area of Union Avenue an Sixth Street at 3:10 p.m. and when he saw them, he retreated into his home, according to a release from the Clifton Police Department.
Police Identify Edison Resident Killed in Early Morning Accident on Route 1
EDISON, NJ - Police have identified the Edison resident who was killed in an early morning accident on Route 1. Raul Montoya-Chavez, age 22, was hit by an SUV while riding on an electric scooter on Wednesday morning, according to authorities. Police say the accident occurred at 1:46 AM on Route 1 South at the intersection of Plainfield Avenue. Rahway Man Sentenced to 33 Months in Prison for Role in Conspiracy to Target Asian Small Business Owners in Residential Burglaries
NEWARK, NJ — A Rahway man was sentenced on Monday to 33 months in prison for his role in a conspiracy that targeted residences belonging to Asian small business owners, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Kevin Jackson, 57, of Rahway, New Jersey, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Evelyn Padin to one count of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property. Judge Padin imposed the sentence today in Newark federal court.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court: "From Dec. 2, 2016, to March 20, 2019, Jackson participated in a conspiracy to burglarize the residences of certain Asian small business owners living in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, stealing large sums of money, valuable jewelry, and other items and transporting the stolen goods in interstate commerce, including to residences in New Jersey and Pennsylvania."
