    Carolina Road reopens after ruptured gas line repaired

    SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a ruptured gas line Tuesday morning.

    According to officials, crews were notified of a ruptured four inch gas line in the 700 block of Carolina Road at 9:33 a.m.

    An investigation revealed the gas line was struck by an excavating company working in the area. 40 workers had to be evacuated from the scene.

    Several businesses and one house were advised to shelter in place due to the incident.

    Carolina Road at Benton Road was shut down in both directions while crews worked to clear the road. Carolina Road has since reopened.

    No injuries were reported.
