SFD responds to Kroger deli fire

Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded Thursday morning, May 2, 2024, to a reported commercial structure fire at Kroger in the 1400 block of North Main Street. Emergency Communications was contacted at 8:22 a.m., and fire crews arrived on the scene at 8:27 a.m.

When crews arrived, they discovered a fire in the oven in the deli area that was extinguished by the overhead hood system prior to their arrival. There was no extension to the building, but crews remained on the scene at this time to ventilate the structure.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident. The fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office.
