    Portage HS scores | May 10: Aurora, Rootstown, Streetsboro softball snag sectional titles

    Streetsboro softball secured its first sectional title in several years with Friday's 11-1 victory over Rocky River.

    Amy Rein went 3-for-4 with a double in addition to earning the victory in the circle.

    T'Lanee Boyett, Olivia Knepper and Dani LaFlame added two hits apiece, with Cortney Evert, Hailey Miller and Knepper each driving in two runs.

    Rootstown 8, Pymatuning Valley 0

    Shelbie Krieger led the Rovers to a sectional title Friday, tossing a one-hit shutout and homering. Krieger's brilliance on the mound included 13 strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs.

    Natalie Hammerschmidt also came up clutch for Rootstown, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Lilly Kamenash tied Hammerschmidt for the team lead with three hits while Boston Silveus had two.

    Aurora 10, Salem 0

    McKennah Metzger tossed a two-hit shutout to win another sectional title for the Greenmen, striking out nine without walking a batter. The Coastal Carolina commit also went 2-for-3 with a homer, a double and three RBIs.

    Sophie Retton also had a double and a triple, while Lailah Bohanan, Madeline Dalessandro and Sophie Petrash added multiple hits.

    LaBrae 7, Southeast 3

    The Pirates lost in Friday's sectional final despite a homer from Morgan Muncy and two hits from Addie Goldstein.

    Four errors proved costly for Southeast, as four of LaBrae's seven runs were unearned.

    Baseball

    Rootstown 4, Coventry 1

    Joe Weaver tossed four scoreless innings for the Rovers while Bryce Harless pitched the final three.

    Weaver also went 2-for-3 at the plate, driving in two of Rootstown's four runs.

    Southeast 10, Newton Falls 2

    Bradee Blankenship and Nate Muncy had three hits apiece to lead the Pirates, including two doubles by Blankenship and another double by Muncy.

    Joe Sharish had a big day for Southeast with a double and three RBIs. Sharish also tossed a perfect seventh inning after Dean Bayus got the win by allowing just two runs (one earned) over six innings.

    Ravenna 8, Ellet 4

    Peter Jennings earned the complete game win for the Ravens, striking out eight, while Connor Welling went 4-for-4 with three runs to spark the lineup.

    Mogadore 1, Manchester 0

    Jude Thiry and Maddox Smith combined on a shutout. Thiry tossed the first 5.1 innings, allowing just three hits and striking out seven. Smith tossed the final 1.2 innings, allowing just one hit.

    Tyler Pendergast drove in the game's lone run.
