Westfield Police: Home Burglars Flee After Alarm Sounds
WESTFIELD, NJ — When Westfield police officers responded to a residential burglary alarm on Walberg Avenue May 5, the suspects had already left, police said Tuesday. The incident happened around 4:21 a.m. that Sunday, according to police.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER “While officers were in route to this call for service, it was determined that unknown suspects had gained entry to the victim's residence by tampering with the handle of an exterior side door,” police said. “Upon further investigation, it appeared that the suspects left the residence upon activation of a residential burglary alarm,” police said. The victim told police that nothing was missing, police said. High-end vehicles parked outside appeared to be the target, police said. As officers patrolled the surrounding area, they located a suspected stolen vehicle bearing a previously stolen license plate, police said.
