White Bear Lake 5, Stillwater 0

At Oak Park Heights, the Ponies are averaging more than seven runs per game against every other team they have played, but Lily Martin and White Bear Lake shut out Stillwater for the second time this season in a 5-0 conference victory on Thursday, April 25 at SAHS.

It was the third straight shutout against the Ponies for White Bear Lake, which also prevailed 11-0 in the section tournament a year ago. It’s a scoreless streak that has now reached 25 consecutive innings since Stillwater scratched for a run in the first inning of eventual 7-1 loss to the Bears on May 9, 2023.

Last year it was Chloe Barber making life difficult for Stillwater hitters but this year it’s Martin, a sophomore who allowed just one hit and three walks with 11 strikeouts in the complete game.

Senior catcher Heidi Barber launched a solo homer in the first inning and that was also the run support needed for the Bears, who added another run in the third and three more in the sixth to pull away.

Lilly Grundner notched the only hit for Stillwater.
