Rustic Rock Coffee to hold grand opening of new Blackfoot location

BLACKFOOT — Newly opened coffee shop Rustic Rock Coffee is inviting the community to its grand opening on Friday that will offer customers great deals on drinks and fun prizes. Heidi Robertson, owner of Rustic Rock Coffee, said the grand opening of the new Blackfoot location will be held Nov. 6 at 830 Jensen Grove Drive. A ribbon-cutting will be held at noon. “We are opening our second location,” Robertson said. “The first location is in Shelley.” Robertson said she opened the original location at 580 N. State St. in Shelley five years ago after quitting her job as an art teacher to pursue her dream of owning a coffee shop. She saw a need for coffee shops in Shelley and wanted to fill that need for the community. “I believe coffee is community,” Robertson said. “It brings people together and makes their day.” Three years ago, Robertson started traveling to the Idaho Falls Farmers Market to sell her coffee. Large scale Billiards tournament begins In Pocatello on Tuesday

Pocatello is trying to win back its reputation as a billiards town, with a five-day tournament aimed at filling the city’s quiet fall season. The tournament runs Tuesday, Nov. 3, through Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day at the Avenue Event Center, the event space attached to the Museum of Clean. The prize pool is up to $30,000 with an $80 entry fee. “We used to have quite a reputation for being a pool town and having lots of billiards tournaments,” said Jeff Glissendorf, director of tourism for Visit Pocatello Chubbuck. “We were a billiards hub, so they wanted to kind of get that back.” Glissendorf said the event also is meant to bring visitors to town after the busy summer months. “We were looking to bring in different kinds of events, cornhole, those kinds of things, and billiards in the off season,” he said. Play will include 8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball and Scotch doubles across nine brackets, with platinum and standard divisions for different skill levels. Grease fire at Oliver’s Restaurant contained to grill after hood suppression system fails

POCATELLO — A grill fire at Oliver’s Restaurant on Monday morning was quickly put out with no injuries, but the fire suppression system in the ventilation hood above the grill failed to deploy, according to the Pocatello Fire Department. Crews responded to the restaurant at 130 S. Fifth Ave. after the fire was reported at 7:12 a.m. The fire was contained to the grill, department spokesperson Kim Stouse said. Stouse said the fire was related to a buildup of grease. Restaurant staff tried to put it out with an extinguisher after the hood’s suppression system didn’t trigger, she said. A fire crew arrived within minutes and put out the fire, using a Class K fire extinguisher designed for cooking oil and grease fires. Stouse said the tags on the hood system were up to date and the inspection records were current, but the system still failed to deploy. Hood suppression systems are typically triggered by a fusible link, a metal link made with solder that melts at a set temperature. When the link separates, it releases a cable that trips the system’s control head, which discharges a fire-suppressing agent over the cooking appliances and shuts off the fuel or gas
