    Sterling Heights police searching for gunman in white SUV who opened fire in road rage dispute on Metro Parkway

    STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- Sterling Heights Police are searching for a driver who opened fire in a road rage incident, injuring one person.

    The shooting happened at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, according to police, along eastbound Metro Parkway, west of Van Dyke in Sterling Heights.

    While stopped at a light, police say an argument broke out between people in a blue Hyundai and the driver of a white SUV.

    Police said SUV driver, described as a Black male, drew a handgun and shot one round at the people in the Hyundai — hitting a male passenger in the leg.

    The injured passenger was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound and released.

    After the shooting, the white SUV did the turn around to head west on Metro Pkwy,, then turned to go north on Van Dyke.

    On Wednesday, police said they were still searching for the suspect, as they released video footage of the incident.

    Anyone with information about the suspect or the suspect vehicle is asked ot call Det. Campau of the Sterling Heights Investigations Bureau at 586-446-2842.
