In the rollin' Rocky Mountains of Colorado, the native wildlife of the region reigns supreme, and us humans are just along for the ride. Amidst all the ski resorts and chic mountain towns, the same animals that have always lived in those woods move through the wilderness, and occasionally their paths intersect with humans in some pretty unique ways.

Earlier this month, the Steamboat Springs Ski Resort was bustling as winter sports enthusiasts gathered to use up the last of the season's snow. Things got a little chaotic there one day, though, when a tag team of curious bear cubs decided to clamber up one of the resort's towers in front of everybody!

LOL! According to @accuweather , the bear cubs were climbing on one of the resort's ski lift towers, using the ladder meant for maintenance and emergency crews. With how fast this dynamic duo was scaling that ladder, you'd think they'd been watching ski lift evacuation drills from the woods this whole time! If the Steamboat Springs lift ever gets stuck and the rescue crew is short-handed, at least they can always call on these bears!

Both ski resort workers and guests stood back from a distance and watched in awe. Ski lift riders in the background even talked about hopping down to watch the baby bears at play. Fortunately, the resort's staff didn't need to usher them off. Eventually, their mama bear came up, and, just like a human mom collecting her kids from the playground, she communicated to their cubs that they needed to wrap it up. Really, what even is a ski lift ladder, if not a jungle gym for black bears?

    Black Bears in Steamboat Springs

Like many places in Colorado, Steamboat Springs is smack-dab in the middle of bear country , and being that it's springtime, there's a lot of new baby cubs making their big debut there right now- though not every cub makes as prominent of an "appearance" as these two did. Obviously, the new cubs are incredible adorable to watch from a distance- not so much up close when there's a protective mama bear around, though.

The city of Steamboat Springs is aware that the likelihood of bear encounters is higher this time of year and has put out public service announcements about bear encounters via their city's website. They hope to not only minimize the potential for a bear attack , but also prevent bears from becoming dangerously desensitized to humans. Every year, there are bears who have to be "destroyed" (euthanized) due to becoming too comfortable around people, the site warns.

As always, if you encounter bears out and about, keep your distance and follow standard bear safety practices. Separation allows both bears and humans to remain safe and keep living life in harmony- even on the ski slopes.
