Minor injury reported in Hartford fire
One person suffered a minor injury Monday evening in a fire at a home in Hartford. Crews responded to the home in the 100 block of South Olive Avenue to the report of a small fire in the kitchen and it was put out quickly. Damage was limited but one of the occupants was treated for an unknown injury that was reported to be non-life-threatening.
Wieland expansion in East Alton to include Helmkamp, Graycor
One of the world’s leading suppliers of copper and copper alloy solutions, Wieland is embarking on a $500M modernization and expansion of its facility in East Alton, Illinois. Construction has mobilized on the Casting Unit 6 (CU6) project, representing the first stage in this capital investment plan to re-equip, modernize, and expand a facility initially opened in 1916. Wieland selected Graycor Construction Company and Helmkamp Construction Co. as their construction team for the multi-phase project.

Year-round work makes lavender season bloom
Lavender season is here. It’s something sisters, Kim Hansen and Kris Straub, work for all year at Tenderloin Farms Lavender in Edwardsville. “This winter we made 200 Farm in a Jar (aromatic and textural collections of farm items including lavender, pinecones and sometimes soybeans) in glass jars, 300 candles and 700 bottles of lavender extract,” Hansen said.
Fosterburg Water gets $4.2 million loan
The Fosterburg Water District will be adding approximately 20 miles of 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch water main infrastructure to increase capacity near the proposed future connection point to the Alluvial water system. This project will also expand potable water service to an additional 30 customers. It’s being made possible, in part, thanks to a federal grant.
