Illinois county to vote on splitting from state in November
By a vote of 15-7, the Madison County Board voted in favor of sending a non-binding referendum to voters in November. County voters will be asked if they want to separate from Cook County to form a new state.
Storms cause damage Thursday
A line of strong storms and possibly tornadoes hit southwestern Illinois Thursday evening. There have been no reports of injuries, but several buildings were hit, and the National Weather Service will be out today looking at the damage. The Prairietown area was hit in Madison County, along with an area near White Hall over to Palmyra in Greene and Macoupin Counties. Investigators will determine if the damage was caused by tornadoes.
