(Nittany Nation) — Wednesday’s NCAA basketball transfer window closed without Penn State’s Ace Baldwin entering the portal, another sign that the Big Ten’s defensive player of the year will return for another season in Happy Valley.

The May 1 deadline signifies the final date players intending to leave can enter the portal, though the names of late entrants could be revealed in the coming days.

Wednesday’s deadline is the second win for Penn State fans hoping to get Baldwin back next year.

Earlier this week, the NBA posted a list of players who’d applied to enter the NBA Draft early. The early entrant candidates consist of players who have collegiate eligibility remaining. Baldwin was not among that list either when the deadline to apply passed.

While Penn State has not confirmed the senior’s 2024 status, it now appears more likely than not that he’ll return next season.

This year, in his first year on campus, Baldwin averaged 14.2 points-per-game, shooting 33-percent from three. Baldwin has one final year of eligibility, his COVID year remaining.
