The family of a 22-year-old Stacy man is asking for the community’s support as he recovers from life-threatening injuries sustained while working on an electric vehicle charging station.

Zavier Chevere, a native of Forest Lake, sustained third-degree burns when a charging station he was working on exploded earlier this week.

Chevere, a high-voltage technician, was placed into a medical coma and is expected to stay in the hospital for eight to nine months, with 40+ surgeries expected to repair the damage to his skin.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Chevere and his family as he recovers.

“He has been enlisted in the Army National Guard for many years. He possesses various attributes of strength and courage and we are all here to support him in his recovery,” the fundraiser reads.

As of Friday, the GoFundMe had reached around $10,000 of its $200,000 goal.
