Shih Tzu stolen in Central Park while nanny gathered kids, heartbroken family offering $5K reward
The Shih Tzu has hit the fan in crime-plagued Central Park. A dastardly dognapper grabbed a beloved 9-year-old pooch from an Upper East Side family this week in Central Park, while a nanny was gathering her two young charges following an afternoon outing. The heartbroken family is offering a $5,000 reward for the safe return of their black and white Shih Tzu, Panda. “I have not been able to eat or sleep since we lost our dog,” a shaken Makiyo Davidson, 39, told The Post Saturday. “It traumatized myself and my kids who were at the crime scene when it happened.” The mom said...

Swastikas drawn on Israeli-owned NYC eatery mark third antisemitic attack since Oct. 7
The same Israeli restaurateur whose kosher Upper East Side cafe was subjected to back-to-back antisemitic attacks saw another one of his eateries defaced with swastikas this week. Owner Sharon Hoota arrived at ZiZi, in Chelsea, Tuesday morning to find two of the hate symbols — one red and one black — spray painted on the restaurant’s outdoor dining shed on Eighth Avenue between 19th and 20th streets. “This is, I believe, no different than what the Jews saw in the 1930s in Germany,” Hoota told The Post Wednesday. The anti-Israel agitators were actually outsiders – and the schools could not have handled it...

Win Rozario’s family called on the officers involved to be fired and charged with murder in the wake of the video’s release by state officials. “The video that was released makes it clear that Win should be alive, but the police came and murdered him in our kitchen without any care for him or us,” a statement from Rozario’s mother, brother and father states. “The police created...
Make parents pay for kids who miss school to curb chronic school absenteeism
The COVID pandemic has ebbed, but one of its most damaging long-term effects has not. Chronic school absenteeism — collateral damage from students accustomed to staying home for alleged online learning — persists across the country. In New York City, a stunning four in 10 students — some 353,000 — were chronically absent, for the last full school year (2021-22). The national figure is 22%. It’s hardly a way to combat the learning loss of school lockdowns, which, per the National Assessment of Educational Progress, set back math and reading proficiency by two decades, especially for low-income students. New York has tried a carrot approach to...
