    Vote now: Who was the News-Leader Athlete of the Week from April 29 to May 4?

    You can vote for the Athlete of the Week from all ongoing MSHSAA sports across Southwest Missouri. There were several individual performances to choose from. Who will get your vote?

    You can nominate your favorite Southwest Missouri athlete, including their stats, in an email to News-Leader sports reporter Wyatt Wheeler by 11 p.m. each Sunday. You can also tag him on X at @WyattWheeler_NL with your stats and standout performers.

    Last week's winner was West Plains baseball player Tank Sims who went 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs in a 17-0 win over Hillcrest.

    Tristan Hunter, Forsyth baseball: Threw his third no-hitter of the season in a five-inning 11-0 win over Galena. He struck out 12 giving him 76 strikeouts this season to 17 walks and a 0.13 ERA through 39.1 innings.

    London Kirk, Nixa soccer: Scored three goals in a 7-0 win over Carl Junction.

    Maliya Clark, Clever field: Won the long jump and the triple jump at the Class 3, District 6 event at Lamar High School.

    Afton Hopkins, Nixa field: Finished first in the pole vault with a vault of 4.65 meters at the Central Ozark Conference championships in Joplin.

    Alaina Norman, Republic field: Won the javelin throw and the shot put throw at the Central Ozark Conference championships in Joplin.

    Tyrell Phinn, Waynesville track: Won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.27 at the Ozark Conference championships in Waynesville.

    Morgan Nicholls, Kickapoo field: Won the shot put finals with a throw of 16.14 meters at the Ozark Conference championships in Waynesville.
