It doesn’t take a meteorologist to tell you it rained a lot across Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas from Thursday to Sunday. But just how much rain did we see in the Ozarks? It all depends on where you live.

From Nevada, Mo. to Fort Scott, Ks. historically high amounts of rain fell from Thursday-Sunday. The radar estimates over 18″ fell in five days time. A line from Harrison, Arkansas to West Plains, Missouri shows significantly lower rainfall amounts than the rest of the Ozarks.

    Springfield

In a matter of three days, Springfield picked up exactly 5.00″ of rain at the National Weather Service office at the airport. The 5″ of rain helped to push us over on rainfall for the month of April, for the spring months of March and April, and the year so far.

A bit surprising, Springfield is now +0.30″ of rain ahead for the year of 2024. Before the final week of April, we had a lot of ground to make up.

    Harrison

Despite picking up 2.15″ in the last week of April, Harrison will end up being behind in all rainfall categories as well. The meteorological spring months of March and April have been abnormally dry for Harrison.
