Timeline of totality in the Ozarks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – On Monday, April 8, 2024, over 30-million Americans will be able to witness the eclipse without having to travel away from their homes. While Springfield won’t be in totality, eastern parts of the Ozarks will see over 3:00 of darkness come Monday afternoon.

The eclipse path will begin in Texas and travel northeast into western Arkansas. A few miles south of Fort Smith, Arkansas a shadow will be cast on the sun starting around 12:31 p.m. Totality south of Fort Smith will be reached at 1:49 p.m.

From Fort Smith, the eclipse will continue northeast towards Jasper, Arkansas. The eclipse will begin at 12:34 p.m. and totality will be reached at 1:52 p.m.

Mountain Home, Arkansas will witness the beginning of the eclipse at 12:36 p.m. Totality will be reached at 1:54 p.m. and Mountain Home will stay in darkness for a little over 3:00.

Continuing northeast, West Plains, Mo. will begin to see the eclipse at 12:37 p.m. Totality will begin at 1:54 p.m. and the eclipse will be over at 3:13 p.m. West Plains will see around 3:05 of darkness.

Winona, Missouri will see the start of the eclipse one minute later than West Plains. Winona can expect 3:14 of totality.

After Monday, the next eclipse that will be visible from the Ozarks region will be on August 12, 2045.
