    Suspect, victim of Phoenix Street homicide in Springfield identified

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A suspect and victim of the deadly shooting on Phoenix Street has been identified by officials.

    Teen arrested in connection with Springfield homicide on Phoenix Street

    Officers were sent to a ShotSpotter activation on Phoenix Street at around 1:20 p.m. Friday, April 12th. When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center but died from his injuries. The Hampden District Attorney’s Office has identified the victim as 20-year-old Railyn Paredes Paulino of Springfield.

    Just over a month later, on May 14th, homicide detectives applied for and were granted a murder warrant for the suspect, 14-year-old Legacy Lopez of Springfield. Lopez was arraigned in connection to the homicide on Thursday in Springfield District Court. He will be held without the right to bail until his next court appearance on June 14.

    Springfield Police and the District Attorney’s office are still investigating the incident.
