Holyoke youth basketball team aims to raise funds with car wash event

Bombers latest feat is a three-peat
WESTFIELD – It’s official – it’s a three-peat!. Westfield sophomore pitcher Shea Hurley scattered four hits, struck out 11 batters and the Bombers won their third straight Western Massachusetts crown with a 9-0 shutout of Agawam in the PVIAC Class A softball championship game Tuesday at Westfield State University.
Baseball: Suffield scores surprising knockout
The Ellington and Suffield High baseball teams were on opposite ends of the Class M state tournament rankings heading into their first-round matchup Tuesday. But the Wildcats had some positives going for them. Though they were 8-12 and had avoided a playdown game by a tie-breaker, they had won four of their last five games. They had played the NCCC champion Knights to a one-run game in the season opener April 4. But most important they had a quality pitcher in senior Sam Beaudoin on the mound.

Jenn Rennich Makes History as Two-Time MASCAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Year
Jenn Rennich has been named the 2023 MASCAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Westfield State student-athlete to win the award twice. Rennich competed in both women's soccer and basketball during her time at Westfield State, setting records and earning accolades in both sports. She was named the 2022 MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year for soccer, and helped lead her team to the MASCAC Regular Season title every season she competed and the Tournament title three of the four years. In basketball, she ranked fourth in the league in steals per game in 2023 while helping the Owls to a repeat trip to the MASCAC Tournament title game.
