SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Some friendly competition returns to the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast in Springfield this Saturday.

Battle Creek Michigan, the self-proclaimed cereal capital, is once again challenging the city of Springfield for ‘World’s Largest Breakfast.’

This rivalry has been around for decades since the cities first competed for ‘World’s Longest Breakfast Table.’ The Spirit of Springfield tells 22News that they are up for the challenge. “No matter what, we are always going to win! I’m telling you!” says Spirit of Springfield President, Judy Matt.

Mayor Domenic Sarno adds, “There’s no challenge here! Fluffy pancakes, maple syrup drizzling over those pancakes, crispy bacon, wash it down with OJ–there’s no comparison.”

The World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast is this Saturday starting at 8 AM, with tables and tents stretching from State to Bridge Street in downtown Springfield. And make sure to find our 22News tent, come by and say hi!
