    Springfield woman pleads guilty to possessing more than 8,000 bags of fentanyl

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield woman has pleaded guilty to being in possession of fentanyl that was intended to be distributed.

    According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts, 27-year-old Karyela Santiago of Springfield is guilty of one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. She is scheduled to be sentenced on August 8.

    On March 30, 2022, Santiago was found in possession of a total of 8,090 bags containing 129 grams of fentanyl that was intended to be distributed.

    Santiago faces up to 20 years in prison, four years of supervised release and a fine of up to $1 million.
