According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, officers received information that the juvenile was illegally in possession of the firearm. On Tuesday around 5:40 p.m., officers located the teenager and a 15-year-old boy on the 200 block of Dickinson Street entering a vehicle.

Both juveniles were detained and police found the loaded firearm in the 17-year-old’s fanny pack. The 17-year-old was arrested and the 15-year-old boy was released.
