Stolen dirt bike seized in Springfield, one person arrested

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield man was arrested Saturday after police received complaints from residents of illegal off-road vehicles in their neighborhood.

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, officers were conducting an Anti-Off-Highway-Vehicle (OHV) public safety detail after neighbors complained of an increase of illegal dirt bikes on Springfield streets that were endangering riders and drivers.

On Saturday afternoon, a dirt bike rider was seen at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Wilbraham Road. Officers continued to watch the rider allegedly perform dangerous stunts down the street.

The rider, identified as 25-year-old Kevin Colon-Soto of Springfield, made a stop at a convenience store on Walnut Street and went inside. When he came back out, officers were there to arrest him. The dirt bike was reported stolen out of Connecticut.

Colon-Soto has been charged with:

• Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
• Negligent/Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Operating an OHV on a Public Way
• Operating an OHV without a Helmet

Colon-Soto has a previous conviction for illegal firearms back in 2021.
