CHARLESTON — Mason Kooi added the long jump to his list of pursuits at the boys track and field state finals at O’Brien Field on Saturday. The Lutheran senior won last year’s Class 1A state title in the high jump and triple jump but demurred on the long jump due to a stress fracture in his left heel.

Auburn’s Jackson Kern and Lutheran High’s Mason Kooi both won state titles on Saturday. Jackson Kern won the 1A 300 hurdles and Mason Kooi won the 1A high jump. Kern also finished second in the 110 hurdles and Kooi finished third in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump.
