Man arrested in pellet gun shooting on South Hill in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. - A man was arrested after shooting a person in the head with a pellet gun on Wednesday afternoon in South Spokane, according to Spokane Police.

Around 1:30 p.m. on May 8, SPD responded to a call of a reported shooting near 29th Avenue and South Raye Street.

The call was placed by a victim who said they had been shot in the head. Additional 9-1-1 calls were also made by witnesses.

When they arrived at the scene, SPD treated the victim for minor injuries, which they determined were caused by a pellet gun shot during a road rage incident. They said the victim's driver's side window had been shot out.

12 minutes after the initial 9-1-1 call, police saw a car matching the suspect description near Indiana Avenue and Hamilton Street in North Spokane.

30-year-old Alexander I. Nayes was arrested by SPD for second-degree assault and booked into Spokane County Jail.
