Spokane malls losing another store, as Rue21 calls it quits

SPOKANE, Wash - For the second time in just a few weeks, a store in the Northtown Mall announced it is closing. This closure will affect the Spokane Valley Mall, too.

Rue21 filed for bankruptcy this week for the fourth time and announced it's closing all 540 of its stores.

The company says it's $200 million in debt and hasn't recovered from a previous bankruptcy filing in 2017.

Rue21 has stores in both Northtown and Spokane Valley malls.

Last month, Express announced it's closing its outlet store in Northtown as the company also filed for bankruptcy.

CNN reports that the stores will close in the next four to six weeks with going out of business sales starting soon.

As of Friday morning, the Rue21 website isn't working, saying that the site is being updated.

Express is still open as of this week, with the entire store on sale.
