Construction at Spokane VA Medical Center will affect parking and access

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Construction will affect parking and access at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in northwest Spokane starting this Thursday.

Spokane's Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center at Wellesley Avenue and North Assembly Street will begin a series of construction projects on May 2, starting with parking lot "A" in front of the main hospital building.

Lot "A" will close due to construction, but additional disabled parking areas will open near the Physical Therapy clinic (building 31) and the Audiology clinic (building 41).

There will also be on-site parking lot shuttle service provided to transport Veterans to and from their cars and the hospital entrance.

Some employee parking will also be repurposed for Veteran-only use, including lot "H" north of building 32.

In coming months, the medical center also plans to move the Spokane Transit Authority bus-stop and shelter from lot "A" to just north of building 40 near the old boiler-plant along Independence Avenue.

According to the VA, these projects are just the first in a series of construction projects set to take place on the medical center campus over the next several years.

Veterans, employees and guests should plan extra time into their visits to account for parking and travel on campus.

Veterans can call ahead, 509-434-7748, to coordinate their shuttle ride once on-campus.

For more information, contact Bret Bowers, VA Public Affairs Officer at 509-434-7378.
