SPOKANE, Wash. -- The City of Spokane is recruiting volunteers for Spring Clean Week to help the city get ready for the Expo '74 50th celebration.

From April 29 - May 3, teams and individuals can volunteer to spruce up Downtown Spokane before this summer's Expo '74 50th celebration kicks off on May 4.

The week will also include some friendly competition through the Downtown Clean-Up Challenge.

During the challenge, teams can earn points for attending clean-up events and posting to social media. The team with the most points will win a trophy and be named the 2024 Downtown Clean-Up Challenge Champion.

There is also the opportunity to sponsor planters to beautify downtown's sidewalks. For $50 each, planters will be maintained from spring through September. They can be sponsored anonymously or in honor of friends, family or organizations.

All volunteers who sign up for Spring Clean Week will receive a voucher for a free slice at David's Pizza.

The Spring Clean Week schedule includes:

Monday, April 29 - Litter Day

Wednesday, May 1 - May Day & Green Space Emphasis

Thursday, May 2 - Graffiti Clean Up
