BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WKEF) -- A Beavercreek man was posthumously honored with the Carnegie Medal for his heroic act. The medal is given throughout the U.S. and Canada to those who enter extreme danger while saving or attempting to save the lives of others. Carnegie hero Anthony Diehl died on July 13 2022 attempting to save his seven-year-old nephew from drowning near South Haven, Michigan.

The second incident is the mysterious crash of Northwest Orient Flight 2501 in 1950. The bodies of the crash victims were never recovered, and only pieces of the plane were found. The flight was en route from New York to Seattle when it encountered a thunderstorm in the Detroit-Minneapolis area.

It is located along the Kalamazoo and Rabbit Rivers, with nearly two miles of river frontage.
