Rocky Mountain Power to begin construction in Park City May 11
In 2020 the Utah Legislature passed a bill requiring companies like Rocky Mountain Power to develop plans to reduce the probability of utility-related wildfires. Earlier this year, Pacific Gas and Electric agreed to pay $45 million in penalties due to its role in the July 2021 Dixie Fire, which is the second largest in California’s history. The blaze started after a tree came in contact with a PG&E power line.
School board not yet convinced about Heber City revitalization plan
City leaders have a plan to enliven downtown Heber, and they want support from other local entities to help make it happen. On Tuesday, April 23, councilmembers presented their vision for the community reinvestment area at the school board’s study session. The presentation was similar to one given to the Wasatch County Council last month.
Park City Film to host 'inspiring' Navajo Nation cycling movie
In partnership with the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, Park City Film is hosting a free screening of “In the Dirt” April 25 at 7 p.m. The film follows former pro cyclist Scott Nydam and a group of Navajo cyclists as they bring cycling to the Navajo Nation. The group wanted to share the positive mental and physical effects of cycling with their friends, but no bike shops existed anywhere within the 28,000 square miles of indigenous land. Executive Director Katy Wang said it’s an inspiring film.
