An official with Greene County Schools told WNCT the school was under lockdown, students were removed from the main building and gathered across the street at Greene County Middle School. Parents were also notified and allowed to pick up their children.
WNCT’s Kenneth “Tree” Roundtree was at the scene and could see students being moved around at both schools. There was also a large scene of vehicles that had arrived at Greene County Middle School to pick up the students while officials with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office were searching Greene County Intermediate School.
Greene County Sheriff’s Office said the incident began just before 11 a.m. The sheriff’s office and NC ALE responded. An initial sweep of the school was done and no threat was found. The Greenville Police Department’s Bomb K9 Unit was also called in to assist.
The sheriff’s office is also investigating who made the bomb threat call.
