St. Clair County man charged in fatal mid-Michigan crash
A St. Clair County man who caused an accident near Mt. Pleasant that killed a Remus man and injured two others has been charged with three felonies. Isabella County Magistrate Aaron Miller on Friday arraigned Kyle Edward Adams, 37, of East China Township for operating while intoxicated causing death, a 15-year felony; and two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, a five-year felony.

Marysville students release salmon into Belle River
COLUMBUS TWP. - Approximately 60 salmon were given a new home in the Belle River thanks to a group of Marysville High School students. Marysville High School science teacher Cherie Westrick's AP Environmental Science class gathered at the bank of the Belle River at Columbus County Park to release the fish Friday. Her class, which consists of sophomores, juniors and seniors, have been raising the fish since November. The class started with 100 eggs and were able to release about 60 fish into the river.

Michigan man who shot ex-girlfriend 15 times in front of her children convicted by jury
MACOMB COUNTY, MI – A Michigan man who shot his ex-girlfriend in front her children has been found guilty. A Macomb County jury convicted 43-year-old James Rockett III of Warren after an hour of deliberation on April 26. Rockett III was found guilty of first-degree murder and felony firearm after the four-day trial.
Police Beat: Clay Township
Clay Township police, along with the Ira Township Fire Department and Tri-Hospital EMS, were dispatched to the area of Dixie Highway and Palms Road on April 14 in response to a single-vehicle rollover crash, according to a police report. Contact was made with the driver — the sole occupant of the vehicle — who was severely injured in the crash. While speaking with the driver, officers noted a strong smell of alcohol coming from him. Because of the injuries sustained during the crash, the driver was transported to the hospital for treatment. Officers obtained a warrant for his blood and a report was generated regarding possible operation while intoxicated. Once the subject was transported from the scene, the vehicle was put back upright, towed from the location and impounded. All documents will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
