2024 IHSBCA High School Baseball Preseason Rankings
(Council Bluffs, IA) – The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has released its preseason baseball rankings for the 2024 baseball season. These rankings are determined by a rankings committee headed by IHSAA Assistant Director Andy Umthun and will be utilized by the IHSAA office for postseason assignments to determine state tournament seeding. Our local schools in Class 1A include Coon Rapids-Bayard in first, Lynnville-Sully in fifth, and St. Albert was named an honorable mention. In Class 2A, Underwood sits at the top at #1, Van Meter is ranked #4, and Kuemper Catholic sits at #8. Looking at Class 3A, Ballard sits at #4, ADM is ranked #9, Lewis Central is #10, and Harlan is an honorable mention. You can find all the preseason rankings below.
IHSAA High School Boy’s Soccer Final Rankings
(Boone, IA) – The IHSAA has released its final official week of the high school boy’s soccer rankings. These rankings are compiled by the Iowa High School Athletic Association by a committee that includes former coaches, officials, and in-state youth club representatives. Starting today, all teams have entered postseason play with many matchups based on these rankings by the IHSAA. Local teams in Class 1A feature Treynor at #6 and St. Albert ranks at #10. In Class 2A, Gilbert sits at the #1 spot, Glenwood remains at #2 overall, and Perry finishes Class 2A off at #9. The last of the local teams are featured in Class 3A with undefeated Lewis Central at #1, and ADM at #3. You can find all of the other rankings below.

Ankeny's star 4x800 relay team comes together after a year's worth of work
At any given practice, you may see Ankeny's boys distance runners laying flat on the ground, hands to their sides or folded on their chests and eyes closed. Distance running and head cross country coach Jon Lindaman is asking them to visualize the upcoming race, all the way from getting the proper nutrition the night before to crossing the finish line and celebrating with their teammates. Every detail is important. The blades of grass on the infield, the feelings of their muscles, the wind in their faces. Lindaman has them visualize and attack each lap around the track, each turn on the cross country course, having them recognize that they can complete the next task at hand.
