A diner outside Ankeny will offer old favorites and more under a new name. Darren and Sherry Warth announced this month they bought the former Sorriso Grille, 7015 N.E. 14th St., in the Carney area just south of Ankeny's city limits. Melinda Strable, the Warth's nearby neighbor who opened the restaurant in 2014, closed Sorriso in April and retired.

Central Iowa couple charged with child endangerment
MAXWELL, Iowa — A Maxwell couple is facing child endangerment and assault charges following an investigation by the Story County Sheriff's Office. The Story County Sheriff's Office says John and Jessica McDaniel abused and neglected their four children. Investigators say John McDaniel intentionally harmed one of their children, causing a broken nose.

For the morning commute, you will notice a few more clouds as you head out the door. Temperatures will be in the mid 50s. Clouds start to thicken Wednesday afternoon ahead of our next round of scattered rain and storms. These will travel from west to east across the region, arriving in our western counties around the lunch hour or shortly after. The rain will get to Omaha and other cities along the Missouri River closer to the evening commute, followed by western Iowa and northwest Missouri late in the evening and early into the night.
