Westbound lanes of Gordon Dr viaduct closed for repairs

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Officials say that the westbound lanes of the Gordon Drive viaduct in Sioux City are temporarily closed. A weight restriction is also in place.

The Iowa DOT said that during recent maintenance, officials determined that the lanes would need to be closed for repairs as a precaution. A detour for westbound Gordon Drive has been set to use Fairmount Street to 6th Street to Virginia Street and back onto Gordon Drive.

Officials said that there is also a weight restriction of 10 tons for eastbound and westbound traffic.

Officials said there are no plans currently as to how long the closure will remain in effect, but the Iowa 511 website says it may reopen June 21 at 5 p.m.

Drivers are asked to obey speed limits and traffic signals and to use caution. The Iowa DOT also reminds drivers that traffic fines for violations in work zones are at least double.
