Pedestrian killed Saturday shows peril of crossing Corpus Christi streets
A crash that happened near a busy intersection in the 200 block of Baldwin Boulevard late Saturday night took the life of a 67-year-old man who was walking across the street. Corpus Christi Police Department senior officer Antonio Contreras said police responded to a call at about 6:29 p.m. May 18 of a major vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. They arrived at the scene to find a man lying in the roadway. Bystanders were already administering first aid when medics arrived and transported the man to a local hospital. He later died from his injuries, Contreras said.

Chris Andrews Boating Center opens in Portland
Nearly three years after construction first began, a new boat ramp project dedicated to a late member of the Portland community officially set sail early last week. On May 21, the city of Portland celebrated the ribbon cutting and grand re-opening of the Chris Andrews Boating Center along the U.S. 181 southbound frontage road. The project is dedicated to the late Chris Andrews, a 1971 Gregory-Portland High School graduate who died in 2015.
