    Simsbury Meadows 2024 summer series includes a symphony, a circus and Swifties

    The Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center recently unveiled an excitingly diverse summer schedule for 2024. Along with the five-concert Talcott Mountain Music Festival , the outdoor venue will host a circus troupe, pop tributes to Taylor Swift, Billy Joel, Elton John and Walt Disney, plus several ukulele events.

    Simsbury Meadows, part of a sprawling expanse of fields, parks and ballfields along the Farmington River, boasts a capacity of 10,000. Many concerts offer a choice of seating close to the stage and open space on the lawn.

    Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac get orchestral treatment at 2024 Talcott Mountain Music Festival

    Highlights of the 2024 summer schedule include:

    June 8: The Little Mermen, a pop band that specializes in songs from Disney movies and musicals.

    June 15: Rhythm & Brews: A Juneteenth Celebration with live music from Nekita Waller, Magic Soul Academy and Damian Curtis Afro-Cuban Jazz Project plus a LEGO Black Panther Photo Zone and a beer garden.

    July 30-31: Cirkus Smirkus, the family-friendly touring circus troupe from Vermont. Simsbury is the only Connecticut appearance for Cirkus Smirkus this summer. The performers are youth aged 10-18.

    Aug. 3: “Let’s Sing Taylor,” a live Taylor Swift singalong concert that also includes a “Let’s Sing Olivia” section devoted to songs of Olivia Rodrigo. “Let’s Sing Taylor” is a large-scale touring show. Its previous Connecticut appearance was at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford in February.

    Aug. 10: Brewstock: A Classic Rock Experience with the bands KSF (a Kansas/Styx/Foreigner tribute) and Sweet Magic.

    Aug. 21: Tom’s Elton Tribute, a nationally touring tribute to Elton John by Tom Cridland.

    Aug. 31: I Love Music Festival, produced by local arts advocate and entrepreneur June Archer.

    Sept. 6: Pop pianist Mike DelGuidice plays the music of Billy Joel and much more.

    Sept. 14-15: Simsbury Arts & Crafts Festival.

    There will also be several community ukulele concerts from the Kinetic Ukes society on June 23, Aug. 18 and Sept. 22, as well as the annual Nutmeg Ukulele Festival, sponsored by Simsbury Meadows at Simsbury’s Eno Hall, on Sept. 14

    The centerpiece of the summer schedule, Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Talcott Mountain Music Festival has already been announced. The classical pops concerts run on Fridays at 8 p.m. (with Saturday rain dates for a couple of them).

    Simsbury Meadows is also the starting or ending location for several marathons and walks over the summer as well, including the UConn Health Half Marathon on June 1, the MS Walk on June 2, Mainly Marathons on June 10, the Simsbury-Granby Rotary River Run on Sept. 21, an autumn Orthopedic Associates of Hartford event on Oct. 5, the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford’s Donny’s Dash on Nov. 2 and the Walk and Talk for Hope on Nov. 30.
