Stellis Health plans to join CentraCare in 2027

MONTICELLO — After 75 years as a physician-owned medical practice, Stellis Health is preparing to become part of CentraCare, a move that could bring changes to patient billing and insurance arrangements while opening the door to new investments in Monticello and Buffalo. The two organizations announced the proposed affiliation Oct. 21, saying Stellis physicians, advanced practice providers and employees would become part of the regional health system, which already operates CentraCare’s Monticello Hospital. Stellis shareholders have voted to move forward with the proposal, which remains subject to final agreements and required regulatory review and approval. The organizations are targeting Jan. 1, 2027, for the transition. For now, patients can continue seeing their current providers, and Stellis clinics will operate as usual. However, some billing and insurance arrangements could change following the affiliation, Stellis leaders acknowledged in written responses to questions from the Monticello Times. “As part of the planned affiliation, some billing and insurance arrangements may change,” Stellis CEO Brent Wilde and President Dr. Frank Anderson said in their joint responses. “Those details are still being worked through, and it would be premature to speculate about the specific impact on individual patients.” They said affordability remains a priority and pledged

St. Michael declares Shop Small Week, talks Jamison Avenue Corridor

The St. Michael City Council declared Shop Small Week and approved a feasibility report for the Jamison Avenue Corridor extension at its meeting on Oct. 27. Discover STMA The City Council approved a resolution proclaiming Nov. 23-28 as Shop Small Week. The resolution was brought forward by Discover STMA, which is an organization that promotes local businesses in the St. Michael-Albertville area. President of Discover STMA Courtney Wiest said local businesses would receive Shop Small success kits if they registered, and they would receive ideas of how they could promote their businesses. She also said Discover STMA would use a “pop-up” method to help businesses without physical locations advertise their services. “Want to make sure all businesses in the community have the opportunity to participate, even if they don’t have a brick and mortar spot,” Wiest said. She said that businesses with enough space would host other businesses to do pop-up shops. “If we get a lot and they don’t have anywhere to go, we will find a space,” Wiest said.
