    North DeSoto, Calvary, Logansport headline Shreveport area LHSAA softball playoff teams

    The 2024 LHSAA softball championships kick off Friday afternoon in Sulphur’s Frasch Park with seven Northwest Louisiana teams vying for one of the 10 championship games on Saturday.

    Here’s a look at who will be in the running:

    Non-Select Division II

    North DeSoto (29-4) vs. North Vermilion (24-6)

    When: Noon

    Team focus: “Mainly staying within ourselves and playing our game. This place sometimes allows your emotions to get out of control. It’s always — hit good pitches and get the routine outs.” North DeSoto coach Tim Whitman

    Non-Select Division III

    Many (17-11) vs. Doyle (23-5)

    When: 2:30 p.m.

    Non-Select Division IV

    Logansport (24-7) vs. French Settlement (18-10)

    When: Noon

    Team focus: “Hitting first-pitch strikes early and not getting behind in the count. We’ve had our pitchers throw live at us this week and we are trying to take that approach to the plate with us. We’ve had a great week of preparation and focus.” Logansport coach Kyle Creech

    Non-Select Division V

    Quitman (27-4) vs Converse (16-8)

    When: Noon

    Team focus (Converse): “Our key is to stay focused — do what we know to do. Don’t let the moment get too big for us. Focus on keeping a low scoring game.” Converse coach Chris Brumley

    Team focus (Quitman): “Just taking it one game at a time and not making the moment too big. Play the game they love the way they have all year.” Quitman coach Justin Dodson

    Stanley (21-13) vs. Anacoco (22-10)

    When: Noon

    Team focus: “Play the game not the opponent. #AllForAubs, for Aubrey Hubier who passed away last September.” Stanley coach Josh Foshee

    Select Division III

    Calvary (33-2) vs. Notre Dame (27-6)

    When: 2:30 p.m.

    Team focus: “Our focus is to stay calm, enjoy every moment, and just be us. We’ve prepared, we’re ready, just have to play the game.” Calvary coach Tiffany Wood
