Looking for a chance to share a latte with a Stormtrooper and a Sherwood police officer?

You’ll get your chance this Saturday, May 4, as the Sherwood Police Department hosts its third annual Coffee with The Force event at the Sherwood Dutch Bros Coffee, 16482 S.W. Langer Drive. May 4 is commonly referred to as Star Wars Day, a pun on "May the Force be with you" from the hit franchise.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., coffee lovers can talk with Sherwood police officers alongside costumed characters including Mandalorians from the Concordia Clan of Mando Mercs and other Star Wars notables from the 501st Legion & Rebel Legion of Star Wars Oregon.

“The goal of the event (is) to take the traditional 'Coffee with a Cop' and make it more family friendly. Both groups have attended the last few years,” Officer Paul Mattson said.

So far, six characters from the 501st Legion & Rebel Legion have signed up for the event including those portraying Darth Vader, Biker Scout, Clone Trooper, Jawa, a TIE Pilot and a Sandtrooper.
