"My sister was notified on Thursday that she had to get out," said Connie Gooch, who has lived in Farmington for more than 65 years. Gooch's...
SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – San Juan County officials shared some of their last updates after catastrophic flooding caused thousands of evacuations. They said this is likely their last regular update, as the flooding is no longer deemed an emergency. Officials said all rivers have decreased below the flood stage, meaning evacuations have been lifted for areas along all three rivers. They said hazards in standing water may still exist, so if you're interacting with floodwater or mud, use PPE.

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ Office of Housing is investing nearly $8 million into its family stabilization program. Previously only available in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe Public Schools, the program to help school kids facing housing insecurity in New Mexico, is now expanding to cover more school districts. One small New Mexico town throws a fall festival where pumpkins get launched across a field for fun. I love that kind of small-town weirdness. It also turns out that towns like that are quietly gaining new neighbors. A tech giant built a massive data center in a village that...
One diner in this state sits inside a giant building shaped like an owl. Yes, an owl, with booths inside and tiny jukeboxes waiting at the tables. That’s only one stop on this trip. Another spot runs a model train along its dining room ceiling. A third keeps the...
Last night, the 2026 midterm election results delivered plenty of historic firsts. It was a particularly powerful night for Native American representation: Democrat Deb Haaland became the first Native American woman to be elected as Governor of New Mexico, while Peggy Flanagan—the current lieutenant governor of Minnesota—became the first Native woman to win the U.S. Senate seat in her state. (And there could even be a third victory for the Indigenous community today: at the time of publishing this story, Alaska’s Mary Peltola is currently leading the race for a Senate seat, too.)
A bookstore with a dollar shelf and a free box sounds like a trap for anyone with weak willpower. I have a thing for places that make cheap books this easy to grab, and this New Mexico shop leans all the way in. The building is big, and the aisles...
