A new challenge awaits long-time women’s basketball coach and Seton LaSalle graduate Kathy McConnell-Miller after she was named Tuesday head coach at Carnegie Mellon. Sewickley Academy athletes to play football for Moon under co-op agreement
Sewickley Academy students will be playing football for Moon next fall under a plan the private school announced Tuesday. Pending approval from the WPIAL and PIAA, the schools will form a cooperative sponsorship of a sport — known informally as a co-op — for middle school and high school football starting in the fall. Sewickley Academy fields teams in eight other boys sports but doesn’t have its own football program.

Foundation Provides Markers for Unmarked Graves of Negro League Stars
The Josh Gibson Foundation, located in Pittsburgh, has been providing markers for unmarked graves of Negro League players. On Monday, they scratched two more off their list, when they provided markers for Clarence “Win” Harris and Frank Miller. Harris was a first baseman/left fielder for the Homestead Grays of the Black Baseball League on and off from 1918-24. Miller was a pitcher/left fielder for the Pittsburgh Keystones of the National Colored Baseball League in 1887 and the New York Gothams of the Middle States League in 1889.
