New York Mets legend opening BBQ restaurant in Albany

Retired New York Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson is opening his first restaurant in Albany, bringing South Carolina-style barbecue to the Capital Region. Mookie Wilson’s Legacy BBQ is scheduled to open Nov. 6 at 42 Eagle St., serving lunch and dinner in the former War Room Tavern space. The restaurant represents the first standalone location for the Wilson family’s four-year-old barbecue brand, which previously operated as a mobile catering business and had a presence at Citi Field during the recent baseball season.

Craft beer meets fine art in Carmel as taproom opens in gallery

It's not everyday you find freshly brewed beer in an art gallery, but that's exactly what you'll find at Silver Horns Brewing Company in Carmel. The venture, which opened Oct. 17, combines the passions of Kelly and Mark Edwards — she's the owner of Arbor Gallery where Silver Horns in located; he's a longtime homebrewer who formerly worked in animation. Together, their nano brewery features five beers: a kolsch, cream ale, New England IPA, IPA and a stout. To come: lagers, saisons, sours and more stouts. Snacks (e.g. nuts, pickles and olives) are also part of their offerings with the hopes of attracting a local food truck to their parking lot (they're located at Promenade on 6, which features a variety of businesses). Already, Maybe Coffee is there with coffee drinks, pancakes, pastries and acai bowls. Customers are also allowed to bring in their own food. Dining: Westchester restaurateurs expand, elevate their cozy eatery to Putnam Keeping to their local theme, they also have seltzers from Upstate Stock and plan to offer wine.
