Vanesa Suarez signs with Lady Vols
Tennessee announced the addition of Vanesa Suarez to the Lady Vols’ tennis program on Monday. “We are very excited to add Vanesa to our team,” Tennessee tennis head coach Alison Ojeda said. “She will bring some experience to our program and most importantly, she fits the culture we work hard for.” Suarez transferred to Tennessee from Kansas State. She played for the Wildcats from 2022-24 and will have two years of eligibility remaining at Tennessee. Suarez is from Valencia, Venezuela. “We are very excited,” Tennessee associate head coach Matias Marin said. “Vanesa has experience and is the right fit for our culture and team. Pickens picked up two wins with the opener on Friday against Dayton and the clincher on Sunday against Virginia, 34-20, with Gottshall sending Virginia to the grueling loser's bracket on Saturday with a 12-0 run-rule win. No. 16 seed Tennessee defeated No. 8 seed UCLA, 4-3, in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight on Friday. The match was contested at Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Tennessee offered a scholarship to 2026 edge prospect Rodney Dunham. “Extremely blessed to receive an offer from the University of Tennessee,” Dunham said. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound four-star edge prospect is from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dunham ranks as the No. 71 overall player in the class of 2026. He ranks as the No. 6 edge rusher and No. 6 player in North Carolina, according to 247Sports. The Vols are the third Southeastern Conference school to offer Dunham a scholarship. He has scholarship offers from Tennessee, Indiana, Texas A&M, Miami University, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Old Dominion, USF, Florida State, Duke, Notre Dame, James Madison, South Carolina, East Carolina and Charlotte.
