Selma Mayor James Perkins, Jr., placed Chief of Police Kenta Fulford on administrative leave with pay, pending the outcome of legally required due process.

A press conference will be held at 2:30 Wednesday in the City Council Chambers.

The appointing authority, the city council, will conduct the due process hearing. This is the second time Perkins placed Fulford on administrative leave. The first time the city council reversed the mayor’s decision.

At the media briefing, Perkins will give an update on the recent shooting of two high school students over this past weekend, the public safety response to appeals for school safety assistance by the school system leadership, and his reason for placing thepolice chief on administrative leave.
