Turns out, lack of scoring isn't a Seattle Kraken problem. It's a Seattle pro sports problem.

Kraken fans don't need to be reminded their favorites ranked 29th in goals scored in the 32-team NHL, 2.61 per game.

This merely continues a malaise going back to the 2023 Seahawks. The Hawks totaled 37 touchdowns, tied for 20th in the 30-team NFL.

Through 30 games this season, the Mariners are squeezing out fewer than 3.8 runs per game - 24th among Major League Baseball's 30 franchises.

Among Major League Soccer's 29 teams, the Sounders are 5th from the bottom in offense with 10 goals in 10 matches.

It would be nice to report that the region's pro women haven't succumbed to the same drought as the guys. But alas, in their 2023 season, the WNBA Storm averaged 78.8 points per game, next to last in the 12-team league.

In their first six matches this season, the Reign of the National Women's Soccer League have five goals, 11th out of 14 NWSL clubs.

Not that this trend is limited to athletes. In King County, the fertility rate is down more than 25% since 2012, according to the state Department of Health.

See? Almost nobody's scoring much around here these days.

Kraken center Yanni Gourde discusses the necessary offensive mindset in this Kraken Reaction .
