NWS confirms at least 4 tornadoes touched down in North Alabama during Wednesday's storms
The National Weather Service in Huntsville say at least four tornadoes touched down in North Alabama during Wednesday's severe weather outbreak. A tornado touched down in the Henagar area in Jackson County Wednesday night. The EF-2 tornado touched down between County Road 425 and 322 at 10:54 p.m. three miles southeast of Pisgah. The tornado had a path stretching 10.22 miles long and 880 yards wide.

State files to seek death penalty against DeKalb County woman charged with capital murder
The State of Alabama has given formal notice that they will seek the death penalty to the defense of a woman accused of kidnapping and forcing a missing woman off a cliff over two years ago.
Update: The severe thunderstorm warning is expected to expire at 7:15 p.m.
The warning was for Jackson County. "The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. for north central and northeastern Alabama," states the National Weather Service.

RED BAY, Ala. (WAFF) - A man was arrested Wednesday after a joint drug investigation between the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Red Bay Police Department. John Devin Kimbrough was arrested after authorities say they found 89 grams of methamphetamine, various drug paraphernalia and two handguns at a home on 10th Street.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - A man is facing several charges after being arrested as part of a joint operation in Powell on Wednesday. Nathan Koger, 41, was wanted on warrants stemming from an auto theft from a home in the Blake community. He was out on bond for felony charges in other cases.
Westbrook Christian to add softball in 2025, hires two-time state champ Chris Williams
Westbrook Christian School will sponsor softball starting in 2025, marking a return for the program. Last week the school announced that they were bringing back the program for the first time since 2006 and hired former Springville head coach Chris Williams. He helped lead that program to the 2015 and 2016 Class 5A state titles. Williams is a 21-year coaching veteran and was most recently at Crossville during the 2024 season.
