New London, Groton and Norwich schools struggle to aid homeless students
New London ― In a span of two days this month, school superintendents in New London and Groton defending their budget plans pointed out the troubling trend of homeless students in their districts. “Our homeless students here, sadly, have continued to grow,” New London Superintendent Cynthia Ritchie told members...
With music education on the budget chopping block, what is an NFA student doing to fight it?
Due to a budget shortfall, Norwich Public Schools will let over 40 teachers go, including three music teachers, at the end of the school year. One Norwich Free Academy student, junior Drea Tutt, started a GoFundMe page to support music at NPS. While it only raised $210 as of Tuesday, she’s hopeful momentum will pick up, she said. ...
UConn Boxing Club brings home national champions
When you mention "national champions" and "UConn," your mind likely goes to the men's and women's basketball teams. But, across campus, there’s another group of athletes bringing national champions to Storrs. “They had a club here that didn't compete,” Mike Campisano said when asked about how the UConn Boxing...

Montville ― The town’s finance committee met Tuesday night to “do a deeper dive” into Mayor Leonard Bunnell’s 2024-2025 budget proposal and look for places where reductions could be made. Bunnell proposed a $70.7 million budget to the Town Council earlier this month which calls...
UConn men’s basketball walk-on, Bristol native Andre Johnson Jr. enters transfer portal
Sophomore Andre Johnson Jr. shot his shot near the end of UConn’s win over Northwestern in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. And he made the garbage-time 3-point attempt, extending the lead to 19 with 30 seconds left. The bench was thrilled for the walk-on from Bristol, who hadn’t scored in his two seasons with the Huskies. Dan Hurley wasn’t – Northwestern head coach Chris Collins ...

Stratton’s Stand: A final stand from the land of steady habits
It’s honestly hard to believe that I’m sitting here writing this. Just like that, my time at The Daily Campus is over. Apologies for the cliché, but it feels like just yesterday was the day after high school graduation and I was sending former Associate Sports Editor Jon Synott an Instagram direct message, asking him how to get involved in DC Sports. A universal experience, I know. Now, over 300 articles later, I’m drafting my final piece.
Senior Column: Peace and love, be good
As my time at The Daily Campus comes to an end, I feel compelled to reflect on the fact that I joined this organization as an 18-year-old from the confines of my childhood bedroom. I happened to see an ad for the Opinion section in The Daily Digest and the rest is history. I’ve held a lot of roles here, most recently this year as editor-in-chief, but at a certain point, the titles lose their meaning anyway. It’s the memories the DC has created for me and the feelings I’ve felt that I’ll remember beyond my time at the University of Connecticut.

The Tolland County wreck happened at around 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, on I-84 in the town of Tolland, near Exit 69. Connecticut State Police said a 38-year-old New York man was driving a Hyundai SUV eastbound in the left lane when he suddenly veered across three lanes of traffic and went off the roadway.

The Final Coleumn: It is okay to not be perfect; Cole Stefan’s self-reflection and sentimental farewell
Allow me, Cole Patrick Stefan, to take you on an intense journey back in time. You might want to buckle up. There were no live sports going on at the University of Connecticut because of the COVID-19 pandemic back in the fall of 2020. Each of the professional sports leagues was in action at the time, whether in their regular season or the playoffs. Unlike most years during which there are collegiate athletics to cover from the first day of the fall semester. However, things just felt different.
Senior Issue: Thank you UConn Nation
Well, that ended more quickly than expected. I’m not going to lie to you at all. When I first stepped on campus as a young freshman, I really didn’t know what to expect or where things would go. Everything was closed, classes were virtual and, worst of all, no University of Connecticut sports. That’s not exactly the formula for a great college career, especially for someone who wants to have a career in sports. On top of all of that, I wasn’t the massive UConn basketball historian like my peers, so I had to get in the lab and really lock in on some Husky history from the very beginning.
