Endicott Man Charged in Tioga County After Shooting Animal in Head
An Endicott man is facing charges in Tioga County after the sheriff's office says he shot an animal in the head. According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, Jeffrey W. Wike was arrested and charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Criminal Mischief after an investigation into an incident in which Wike shot a companion animal in the head with a firearm.

Investigator Theetge announces release from in-patient rehab in Rochester

NYSEG & Woodlawn Court Reach Agreement to Avoid Shutoff
ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- A couple of weeks ago, tenants at Woodlawn Court in Elmira received a NYSEG notice on their doors, with a shutoff notice stating the complex owed almost $393,000 in unpaid utilities. The shutoff date was May 14th, but as of May 15th, management said it worked out an agreement with NYSEG to keep the lights on.
'We're full': Horseheads Animal Shelter to close July 1, leaving a gap in animal services
For the second time in the last 10 years, the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter is looking to close, but this time it's likely to happen. When the Town of Horseheads, which ran the shelter for years, decided it could no longer afford to maintain the operation, the Friends of the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter stepped up and took over the facility in 2016.
Guiderail Repair Work to Impact Tioga County Drivers Friday Morning
A portion of State Route 17 in Owego will be closed in the early morning hours of Friday, May 17th for repair work. According to the NYSDOT, SR 17 eastbound will be closed between Exit 65 and Exit 66 in the Town of Owego from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. This is to allow for repair work to a damaged guiderail.

Foggy Start, Mainly Dry
Fair skies are expected on Thursday as low pressure exits off the East Coast. A passing shower cannot be ruled out during the day, otherwise it should be a dry day. Highs will be in the mid to upper-70s. Partly cloudy skies and dry conditions continue overnight as lows fall into the lower-50s. Clouds will be increasing into Friday as a system approaches from the west. We will see showers by Friday afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid-70s. A few showers cannot be ruled out Saturday, but we are looking at partly sunny skies and temperatures sitting seasonable in the lower-70s. We rise back to the mid-70s on Sunday with fair skies continuing. Early next week we will start off in the lower-80s with dry weather on Monday and Tuesday under partly sunny skies. Clouds will be increasing on Wednesday with the chance for showers. Temperatures will be in the upper-70s.
NYSEG system upgrades aim to reduce power outages for Chemung County residents
Rural areas can sometimes be prone to electric outages, but New York State & Electric and Gas is taking steps to reduce the frequency in parts of Chemung County. NYSEG is launching a multi-pronged project designed to make delivery of electricity more reliable for customers in the towns of Erin and Van Etten.

Low pressure will move through the Twin Tiers with showers expected, especially in the morning hours. The cloud cover will stick around into the afternoon with highs in the upper-60s, around 70. Overnight, scattered showers will taper off for the most part with mostly cloudy skies expected. Lows will be in the mid-50s. A lingering shower cannot be ruled out on Thursday with partly sunny skies expected. Highs will be warmer than today in the mid-70s. We continue in the upper-70s on Friday with dry conditions and clouds increasing ahead of our next system.Another low pressure system will bring showers to the area on Saturday and a few showers will pass by on Sunday. Otherwise it will be partly sunny on Sunday. Highs will be in the low to mid-70s over the upcoming weekend. Early next week will start off dry on Monday with more showers on the way for Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the upper-70s and lower-80s.
